Geo and Jang group banned in Pakistan
Islamabad: Yesterday 5 members of PEMRA authority committee met in Islamabad on a meeting held. There were 9 people who should have been attending the meeting but the people who were linked with the govt took a side line and 5 people made a strong decision at the meeting. After meeting, it was told in the press conference that one of the leading media group of Pakistan, Jang and Geo, their licenses are suspended and they are stopped from broadcasting. These includes Geo News, Geo Tezz and Geo entertainment. The allegation is that they have broadcasted material which goes against the ISI and has hurt the Pak Army and the feeling of nation. The authority is hopeful that there would be a quick action and the decision would be implemented as soon as possible. Furthermore, the final decision that the ban would be permanent or not would be made on the meeting held on 28th May 2014.
