AB de Villiers Scored Fastest ODI Century on Just 31 Balls

AB de Villiers has scored 149 runs of just 44 balls today at Johannesburg in the ODI match of WI vs SA by hitting 16 sixes and 9 fours! He scored 100 of only 31 balls, the fastest century ever in the ODI by any player.

The stadium of Johannesburg was cheering throughout the game today when their home team was smashing the bowlers of WI out of park. The SA dominated the game throughout the day from the very start. At first, the toss was held which was won by team WI who choose to bowl first. They would never have imagined that their decision will prove this much wrong. The batsmen of SA came on the pitch looking for a big score. Here you go with the highlights and scorecard of SA vs WI 2nd ODI January 18, 2015.

The first wicket partnership was of 247 runs, the longest opening partnership by any South African pair. This was broken when the Rilee Rossouw was caught by Suleman Benn on the delivery of Jerome Taylor in 38th over. He scored his maiden hundred and was gone at 128 on 115 balls. On the other hand, Hashim Amla was playing beautiful innings and he also scored 100+. At one down came the captain of SA AB de Villiers.

By hitting 4 runs on very first ball he played, AB de Villiers cleared his intentions towards enormous total. The buildup was good and so was the captain. He started smashing the bowlers all over the ground and scored 50 runs of just 16 balls by smashing 3 fours and 5 maximums! On the other hand, Amla was steady with the boundaries but he kept rotating of strike and giving AB complete chance of firing up the ground. This made AB to continue what was he doing best, hitting ball over the fence. AB de Villiers scored the fastest century of ODI on just 31 balls. He jotted down 8 fours and 10 sixes in his century and helped his team in scoring over 400. He continued to blast until he was caught by carter on the bowl of Andrew Russell. He scored 149 runs of just 47 balls with 9 fours and 16 sixes.

AB also leveled the record of highest number of sixes by an individual in the ODI innings. Right now, he and RG Sharma of India holds the record of maximum sixes which are 16. The highest total is by Sri Lanka against Netherlands which is 443. After this total comes the total of SA which is done today against WI. The match was going on like highlights of an innings. Right now, team WI is chasing the total which seems very tough. We hope for a good game of cricket and some more excitement!
