Gilgit-The massacre of 10 foreign climbers on the base camp of Killer Mountain Nanga Parbat came after a failed attempt to kidnap an American-Chinese and to use him to demand ransom or other to bargain.
The June 22 attack on the base camp of Nanga Parbat was the deadliest assault on the foreigners in the history of the country.
The victims were identified as three Ukrainians,two Chinese including an American Chinese Chen Honglu,two Slovakians,one Lithuanian and a Pakistani guide.
They story began in early 2013 when the Two Afghans reached the locals and introduced them as two Taliban Commanders and briefed them about the Nanga Parbat Operation.
"They were told that the mission was to kidnap a foreigner in order to bargain for an important Taliban commander",an investigator told.
The men left for Nanga Parbat,as the attack unfolded Chen came out of his tent and tackled one of the militants.The militant shot him and following this rest of the campers for tied and shot.
After four months of the incident the authorities made their fist arrest and 18 are detained until now.
